Cautions in the Use of TEC1 Series Thermoelectric module

Ⅰ.When testing the TE module with non-special equipmenl
under working parameter,the temperature of the hot surface must be lower than 80℃ (including the hot surface transformed from the cold surface when the electric current direction changes).without elimination of heat of the hot surface,testing it by instantly electrifying,that is,to touch both surfaces of the TE module.It Will do when you feel a bit hot on one face,a bit cold on the other Otherwise,if it is too hot on the hot surface there will be short circuit or open circuit on the TE module and it has to be discarded.

Ⅱ.Under normal conditions
when identifying polarity of the TE module, put the cold surface of the TE module upward,put the lead terminal to the body of the operator. Now the lead on the right is positive electrode.generally marked with red;the one on the left is negative electrode, usually marked with black, blue or white, which indicates the connecting method when the refrigeration unit works. When heat is needed, only change the polarity of the electric current.When the TE module operate,direct current power supply must be needed, and the ripple factor of the power should be less than l0%.

Ⅲ.Identifying method of the number of couples and the limit voltage
the number of the couples refers to the number of the PN junctions. For example,if the type of the TE module is TEC1-12703,127 is the number of couples on the TE module, 03 is the permitted electric current value(with ampere as the unit)The limit voltage of the TE modufe V ≈number of the couples ×0.11. As to TECI-12703, the limit voltage V=127 ×0.11=13.97(V).

Ⅳ.No matter if they are in use or being tested
the hot surface and the cold one must return to room-temperature if you want to change the direction of the current (usually after more than 15 minutes). Otherwise,the ceramic plate will most probably be cracked.

Ⅴ.To prolong the longevity of the TE moduie
solidify the PN junctions exposing to the outside of the unit before using it,paint the PN junctions outside the TE module (not on the two end surfaces)evenly with 706 single-component solidifying rubber. The rubber wil1 sol idify naturally Within 24 hours and turn to cream white elastic solid.The aim is to tseparate the galvanic couple of the unit from the external air absolutely so as to keep the damp outside and prolong the longevity.

Ⅵ.When installing the TE module
wipe the both surfaces of the TE module cleanly with absolute alcohol first,paint it with a thin layer of heat conducting silica grease evenly;the installing surface(cold storage panel, heat sink) should be processed, the flatness of the surface shout be more than O.03mm, and should be wiped cleanly;during the course of the installation,the working surface of the cold end on the TE module and the cold storage panel should be in good contact,the hot end should be in good contact with the heat sink (if tighten them with screws,do it evenly and DON'T make too much efforts);the size of the cold storage panel and the heat sink is decided by the cooling method and the cooling power,it can be decided according to the conditions;to achieve the best cooling effec,fill the gap between the cold storage panel and the heating panel with heat barrier material,the thickness of which should be within the limit of 25mm-30mm.

Ⅶ.Without special instruments
the user may measure the size and height of its
appearance,judge its performance. The static resistance of the TE module measured with universal meter is inaccurate and only for reference.
